Paleolithic (Paleo) Diet
The Paleolithic Diet is also known as the Paleo diet. It follows the belief that we should be eating the same foods that our ancestors ate to experience optimal health. This includes a diet rich in meat, fish, wild vegetables and fruit, eggs, nuts, and seeds. The paleo approach is to eat the same foods that our caveman ancestors did thousands of years ago. This is before the cultivation of grains and legumes and strictly cuts out processed or refined foods. If a caveman wouldn’t eat it- we shouldn’t either.
This diet consumes a large amount of healthy fats and vegetables. Animal protein in the form of poultry, red meat, eggs, fish, pork, and organ meat are staples to the diet. Fruit should be considered a treat and consumed in moderation. A vigorous exercise routine and outdoor activity is also strongly encouraged.
